Our April 26 caucus to elect Delegates to the 5th District Convention has been CANCELLED. We received less than the required amount of delegate candidates required so those that filed are elected.
NOTICE OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS
The ALBEMARLE County Democratic Committee hereby announces that it will hold an assembled caucus beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 26, 2017 at the Jefferson Madison Regional Library Central Branch 201 E Market St, Charlottesville, VA 22902 for the purpose of electing 34 delegates and 17 alternates to the 5th Congressional District Democratic Convention. The Convention to elect the members of the 5th Congressional District Democratic Committee will be held on May 13, 2017 at 12 noon at the Northside Library, 705 Rio Road West, Charlottesville, VA 22901 .
Any person wishing to seek election as a delegate or alternate must file with Patty Haling, Chair of the Albemarle County Democratic Committee, via email no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017. A voluntary administrative fee of $10.00 for the local and a $20.00 fee for the 5th Congressional District Convention for a total of $30 will be charged at the time of filing.
Doors to the caucus open at 6:00 p.m. for check-in. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out by any person attending the caucus prior to participating in the caucus. At 6:30 p.m. the doors to the caucus will close and no person may complete a form and participate in the caucus after that time with the exception of those persons in line at 6:30 p.m.
If only one person files for each delegate or alternate position, the caucus will be cancelled. In this event the Chair will publicly announce the cancellation, proclaim the individuals properly filed as the duly nominated delegates and alternates, and so advice those individuals.
