S. 15, two of Virginia’s primary east-west and north-south transportation corridors, which provides direct access to four interstate highway systems: I-95, I-85, I-81 and I-64. Prince Edward County operates under a traditional form of government with an eight-member Board of Supervisors. The County is divided into eight magisterial districts with one board member elected from each district serving four year staggered board terms. The County Administrator is chief administrative officer of the County. Five constitutional officers, elected at-large, perform services for both the State and County governments. The Town of Farmville operates under the council/manager form of government. The Town Council is made up of seven council members and one mayor elected at large from open Town elections. The Town is divided into five wards, with one council member elected per ward, and two council members elected at-large. Council members serve four year staggered terms. Town elections are held on the first Tuesday in May in each even numbered year. The Town Council being the legislative body of Farmville is responsible for adopting all ordinances and resolutions, establishing long range plans and policies, approving the annual operating budgets, setting all tax rates and user fees and making land use and zoning decisions. The Farmville Town Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmville Train Station, 510 West Third Street. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Public hearings are held to give citizens the opportunity to voice their comments and concerns about actions taken by Town Council.
